Welcome to So Cal Bass Fishing. Established in 1999, SCBF is the home of California’s premier instructional guide services for Lakes Castaic and Casitas. Arguably, the two most famous trophy lakes in the world, collectively holding records for 8 out of the 15 largest bass ever caught!

My mission statement is simple. Provide those who wish to learn, a platform for advanced and beginning bass fishing education in a fun and safe environment.

LAKE CASITAS IS CLOSED TO PUBLIC BOATING (UNLESS YOU PASS INSPECTION), BUT REMAINS OPEN TO CUSTOMERS OF SOCALBASSFISHING!

So the question is what happens when you eliminate 99% of the boat traffic on a world famous trophy bass lake? Answer; forget about taking a bass fishing vacation any where else in the world, period. This is not overblown hype; this is an unfortunate situation that, as a result, has made the legendary lake Casitas, virtually my private back yard pond.

• In efforts to prevent being locked out of lake Casitas due to closure, socalbassfishing has a slip and new home on the water at Lake Casitas.
• If you want to learn to bass fish in under circumstances where fishing is easy, now is the time..
• If you are advanced and you want a legitimate shot at a trophy bass, now is the time..

The Lake Casitas water board has suspended all public boating on Lake Casitas, in an effort to help prevent the introduction of the quaggra muscle. The closure has left many anglers, rightfully up in arms as they can no longer fish the legendary trophy bass lake, and there is little consolation for those who spend most of their free time at the lake.

We are on the backside of summer now and the bass are moving throughout the water column.

Date : 2008-08-28

We are on the backside of Summer 2008 now and the bass are moving throughout the water column, feeding on shad. The last couple of weeks have produced consistently bigger class of fish. Almost every day you can have at least one shot at a G R E A T bass. 5lbs-10lbs plus. What I can say is that the fishing has become better and better since the lake traffic has been minimized. As we move into the end of summer and the beginning of fall, fish are starting to feed up before winter arrives. Late summer/early fall is my favorite time of year to fish, because the fish are feeding aggressively and looking for bigger meals. This time of year is sometimes called the second spring because the fishing can be that good. Fall patterns can be fished with a variety of techniques including, chatter baits, spooks, buzz baits, crank baits, spinner baits, drop shot, Texas rig, Carolina rig and Senkos. To everyone that had opted to subscribe to the newsletter stand by because we have some changes coming to the site. We will be posting live video footage from our trips on the site. Video is the only medium where the proof is undisputed. I will give you a first hand look at why socalbassfishing.com clients consistently catch more trophy bass, PERIOD. What is the difference? A versatile approach and understanding of seasonal big fish patterns is the key. Big bass don’t eat just one lure, the patterns are constantly changing, based on what, where, when and how the big bass are feeding. Most, “big bass anglers”, are one trick ponies, who only utilize a single technique to catch big bass like swim bait fishing or using live bait. Don’t get me wrong I love throwing swim baits and fishing live shad. The problem is that live bait is not always available and the bass are not looking for trout, except during the 4 months of the year the trout are being planted. So how do you catch big bass all year long? I don’t always have the answers, nobody gets them every day. What I can guarantee, is that once you are in my boat you will not have a better opportunity for a quality or quantity bass fishing experience in California.
